About

Fernando Fenandez

Welcome to my woodworking journey. My name is Fernando, and I’m passionate about creating beautiful, functional furniture. Although I don’t have formal training in woodworking, my deep-rooted connection to lumber has shaped my path.

Growing up, my grandfather owned 12 lumber yards in Guadalajara, Jalisco, Mexico, and my father also ran several lumber yards. From an early age, I was surrounded by rough wood, large industrial band saws, and heavy planing machines. On my mother’s side, the family trade was glass installation. My first job at 16 was cleaning my uncle’s glass shop in Austin, Texas. Over the years, I moved from shop maintenance to fabricating and managing large curtain walls and storefront frames for commercial installations. Climbing the corporate ladder, I transitioned into estimating for various glass companies and came close to becoming a project manager. However, after multiple layoffs, I decided to start my own business.

Before starting a glass installation business, I built a two-person bench for my wife from scrap wood. The smell of sawdust and sweat reminded me of my father, whom I lost in my 20s. I found immense joy in working with lumber and began fabricating planters and other projects for our home. My first sale came from a Facebook Marketplace post for a small “rustic” bench, which was well-received. Since then, I’ve expanded to creating Adirondack chairs, large picnic tables, small dining tables, shelves, boxes, pantry displays, and other small to medium projects, all of which are now available on my website.

With a dedicated workshop in my backyard, I am committed to building, fabricating, and creating high-quality furniture and structures for those who need a unique piece for their home or a backyard shed for storage or hobbies. While my skills are continually evolving, each project brings me closer to my goal of becoming a master craftsman.

Thank you for joining me on this journey. I look forward to crafting something special for you.
